Video cameras contain a multitude of fascinating parts. This oddly-shaped PCB was just asking to be made into a robot.
Today’s robot is affectionately called Gateaux; well… the cake is a lie. Gateaux is USB-B powered enabling his eye to light up. I have been toying with the idea of a hanging robot for a while so today I started with his head and worked upwards. Thankfully something I pulled apart had a USB socket so following the pinout, I connected the LED to the USB port using a 220Ω resistor in series.
Gateaux may or may not be friendly, I haven’t decided. In the spirit of the ever-nutty GLADOS, I wanted the impression of Gateaux to be cold but also friendly in a weird way. I leave it to you to decide.
Day 9 sees the entry of twin robots. The idea behind them was a fire-fighting design for offices or high-rise spaces. They are built using video player components. Eeeh, the days of tedious rewinding – never again.
