This robot comes from a DC motor larger than those previously used, along with various video camcorder parts.
Today’s robot was all about breaking the rules and finding out just how abstract I could make it. I tried taking away everything that would give a robot it’s identity or draw from recognizable Sci-Fi conventions. What I ended up with was between a low-budget Rutan and something that Kirk would have an argument with it at the end of a Star Trek TOS episode. Just once, they could have done a two-parter where the computer-brain thing didn’t die (had a fuse in the plug, or cooling fans or just not blow up because of Shatner’s hammy acting). But I digress…
This mostly comes from old SLR film cameras. This one was a great learning curve; learning to let go and enjoy guiltless creativity making it another one of my favourites. Getting this on a plane will be interesting.
Back to something more stylized, today’s borrows from a more modern digital camera.
